Technologies Email Gateway protects email servers three
ways: Store and Forward, Spam Filtering, and Virus
Filtering. Each of these tools is explained below:
Store and Forward
The Mail Gateway serves as a
backup in the event your email server is down for whatever
reason. Using the Gateway, you can safely reboot and work on
an email server, undergo loss of Internet connectivity, or
suffer other failures without the risk of losing email. The
Gateway will constantly monitor your email server, and
should there be a problem, mail is stored for up to two
days. When your server is available, the mail is immediately
forwarded. Internal mail servers can be down for many
reasons, which gives many more reasons to back up email with
store and forward protection.
Spam Filtering
Using our proprietary Spam
PredatorSM,
the Gateway removes the majority of spam based on
originating from spam sites, faulty headers, and other clear
spam indicators. Email which is not clearly spam will be
tested and marked as suspected spam based on content. This
allows you to set filters for spam that meet your user’s
needs. Our Spam PredatorSM
is a nine-stage process that uses heuristics, artificial
intelligence, Bayesian filters and other technology to blend
the best of the leading methods of spam filtering. Since it
uses a variety of methods it is over 99% effective. Our Spam
PredatorSM
will not interfere with your in-house spam filters, only
enhance them.
Virus Filtering
Email is the number one source
of malicious viruses. While we recommend that every network
have effective, enterprise-wide and centrally managed virus
filtering, we will lessen the load on your virus protection
by removing known virus content before it hits your server.
This lessens the chance that your system will miss a
destructive virus.
This suite of tools is
designed to be affordable. The cost depends on the number of
email messages received daily per domain.
