Setting Up Outlook 2007 Using Exchange

First, backup your current Outlook profile. Open Outlook
and choose File | Import and Export…

Choose “Export to a File” then click Next.

Choose “Personal Folder File (.pst)” and click Next.

Choose Personal Folders and make sure that “Include
subfolders” is checked off. Then click Next.

To prevent any loss of information, choose “Allow duplicate
items to be created” then click Browse…

Save your .pst file to your desktop. This will make it
easy to find later.

Click finish.

Outlook will prompt you to choose compression, etc. Leave
the defaults and click OK. Depending on the amount of your
files, it may take a while before it is done exporting
everything.

Next, go to Start Menu | Control Panel | Mail.

Click Show Profiles.

Choose the profile to which you want to add your Exchange
account. The default profile is called Outlook. For this
example, we will add a profile. To do so, click Add…

Name the profile. A good practice is to name it with the
primary email address or Exchange account to be used.

Outlook will attempt to find your Exchange server. Check off
the box next to Manually configure server settings or
additional server types, then click Next.

On the next screen, choose Microsoft Exchange. Then click
Next.

Fill in the first field as above (webmail.offsiteinc.info). In the second field, fill
in your full email address. Then click More Settings…

If you receive this error, click OK.

You will see a dialog box similar to that above. Click
Cancel.

Click the Connection tab.

Check off “Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP”. Then
click Exchange Proxy Settings…

Next, fill in this dialog like the one above. It must be
exact to work properly. Click OK when finished.

Click OK out of the Connection tab.

Back at the Email Accounts dialog, click “Check name” next
to your email address. You will get a prompt like above.
Enter your full email address and password as shown.

Now your name should appear in the User Name field and be
underlined. You can check off Use Cached Exchange Mode if
you choose to use that feature. Then click Next.

Open Outlook again. Enter your email address and password
and click OK.

Next, go to File | Import and Export…

This time, choose “Import from another program or file” then
click Next.

Choose “Personal Folder File (.pst)” then click Next.

Browse to your Desktop and find the .pst file that was
backed up in the beginning of this tutorial. Highlight it
and click Open.

Make sure “Include subfolders” is checked off, then click
Finish. Again, depending on the size of the file, it may
take a while for everything to import.
Your new Exchange account is now set up and your old mail
from Outlook has been moved to the Exchange server.
