Setting Up Outlook to use RPC Over HTTPS

First, backup your current Outlook profile. Open Outlook
and choose File | Import and Export…

Choose “Export to
a File” then click Next.

Choose “Personal Folder File (.pst)”
and click Next.

Choose Personal Folders and make sure
that “Include subfolders” is checked off. Then click Next.

To prevent any loss of information, choose “Allow
duplicate items to be created” then click Browse…

Save your .pst file to your desktop. This will make it easy
to find later.

Click Finish.

Outlook will prompt you to
choose compression, etc. Leave the defaults and click OK.
Depending on the amount of your files, it may take a while
before it is done exporting everything.

Next, go to
Start Menu | Control Panel | Mail.

Click Show Profiles.

Choose
the profile to which you want to add your Exchange account.
The default profile is called Outlook. For this example, we
are using a profile called test. When it is highlighted,
click on Properties.

Next, click on E-mail Accounts…
If you try to create an Exchange account from your current
running Outlook profile, you will get the following error:

Click OK and follow the directions above to get into the
Mail Control Panel applet.

After choosing Email
Accounts… choose “Add a new e-mail account” then click Next.

Choose “Microsoft Exchange Server” then click Next.

Fill in the first field as above, and uncheck Use Cached
Exchange Mode. In the second field, type in your full email
address. Then click More Settings…

There will be a
slight delay. Then you should receive the message above.
Click OK.

You will see a dialog box similar to that
above. Click Cancel.

Fill in the name of your Exchange
account to read webmail.offsiteinc.info. This will make
troubleshooting easier if the need arises. Then click the
Connection tab.

Check off “Connect to my Exchange
mailbox using HTTP”. Then click Exchange Proxy Settings…

Next, fill in this dialog like the one above. It must be
exact to work properly. Click OK when finished.

Click OK
out of the Connection tab.

Back at the Email Accounts
dialog, click “Check name” next to your email address. You
will get a prompt like above. Enter your full email address
and password as shown.

Now your name should appear in
the User Name field and be underlined. You can check off Use
Cached Exchange Mode if you choose to use that feature. Then
click Next.

You will get the notice above. Click Yes, as
we will fix that next.

Now your Exchange account is set
up. Click Finish.

Open Outlook again. Enter your email
address and password and click OK.

You should see
your Exchange account on the left under Mailbox – Your Name.

Go to Tools | E-mail Accounts…

Choose “View/Change
accounts”, then click Next. You should see a dialog
similar to the above. Under “Deliver new e-mail to the
following location:” choose Mailbox – Your Name. Then click
Finish.

You will receive the warning above. Click OK.

Next, go to File | Import and Export…

This time,
choose “Import from another program or file” then click
Next.

Choose “Personal Folder File (.pst)” then click
Next.

Browse to your Desktop and find the .pst file that
was backed up in the beginning of this tutorial. Highlight
it and click Open.

Make sure “Include subfolders is
checked off”, then click Finish. Again, depending on the
size of the file, it may take a while for everything to
import.

Once done, go to Personal Folders on the left
column and right click. Then left click on Close “Personal
Folders”.
Your new Exchange account is now set up and your
old mail from Outlook has been moved to the Exchange server.
