Webmail Walkthrough

Open your preferred browser and go to mail.domain.tld, where domain.tld is your actual domain name. For example, if your domain is testers.com, you would go to mail.testers.com.

You should see a similar page as above. To read email on the web, click the Webmail Client button at the top.

This will open a new screen. Enter your full email address in the username field and your password below that. Then click the login button.

If this is your first time logging in, you will be presented with the opportunity to update your personal details like name, email address, and signature. When done, click Submit.

Next you will see your Inbox. A typical layout is above.

To check your mail, click on the Check mail link on the left.

At the top of your Inbox, there is a bar of buttons. To import addresses for your use, click on the Addresses icon, as above.

Make sure you have your addresses in a .csv format. Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, and other mail clients can export to this format. Look in the help section of your email software for specifics. Once you have the file, browse to it.

Then click on Import CSV file.

Next, you will have a page that lets you decide what information you want to keep from the import. Choose Do Not Include for any columns that you do not want imported. Check off any boxes on the left of any contacts you do not want to have imported at all.

Then, most importantly, scroll down to the bottom and click the Finish button.

You may end up with a few errors. This is due to extra spaces or bad syntax in the .csv file. Most likely your addresses have imported just fine. Click the addresses link to verify.

Next you may want to tune the appearance of Webmail. Click Options at the top right, then Display Preferences, as illustrated above.

In here you can choose many things: if you want to view HTML in emails, compose messages in a new window, or use the advanced javascript address book, to name a few.

It’s a long page, so don’t forget to scroll all the way to the bottom and click the Submit button in the right-hand corner.

After you’ve made any changes, you will see this message at the top of the Options page. Click Refresh Page to see your changes.

You may also want to change your mail account settings like your password, forwarding, auto-response, etc. You can do this through the Options page by clicking on User Account Administration.

The server-side options will appear embedded in the Webmail client. Your choices are on the left.

To compose a new message, click the icon similar to the one above.

One useful feature for those with many addresses in an address book is the auto-complete feature. When composing a new message, type the beginning of the recipient’s email address, nickname, or name, and they will appear on a drop-down list for you to choose from.

You can also switch composing formats. If you would like to change to HTML, click the Compose in HTML button.

You will get a full-featured rich client that supports styles, different character sets, and emoticons.

At the bottom, you can attach files by clicking Browse… then Add.

There are filtering features found on the Options page. Click on Message Filters.

To make a new filter, click New.

Choose the filtering criteria, as above.

Choose the folder to which the message is moved when a match is found. Click ok.

When the filter is saved correctly, you will a line similar to the one above.

For more help with this Webmail client, click the (?) in the right-hand corner. It will give you contextual help.

You can go look at the full manual by clicking on Table of Contents.
