Outlook 2000 Email Authentication
Outlook 2000 has two different
modes of support for e-mail. It is important to distinguish
which mode you are using. To determine the e-mail mode of
Outlook, click About on the Help Menu. The window will tell
you whether it is Corporate and Workgroup or Internet Only
mode. Once you have determined which mode, read the
appropriate instructions below.
Corporate and Workgroup
- On the Tools menu, click Services (left figure
below).
- On the Services tab, select the Internet E-mail
service for your account and click the Properties
button.
- From the account properties form, on the Servers
tab, check the My server requires authentication
checkbox (right figure below).

Internet Only
- On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
- In the Internet Accounts dialog box, click the Mail
tab, and then click your e-mail account.
- Click the Servers tab, and then click the My server
requires authentication checkbox.
